FAQs

What does a County Commissioner do?

A county commissioner sets policy and manages the nuts and bolts of county government. Each commissioner represents a precinct and makes decisions on roads, bridges, flood control, public safety funding, parks, and core services. They help set the county budget and tax rate, oversee major contracts, guide long term infrastructure planning, and work with the county judge to run the Commissioners Court, which is the governing body for the county.
